Nagaland Olympic: Kohima, Wokha and Dimapur shine in taekwondo event

Kohima, Aug 24 (EMN):
The 2nd Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2022 Taekwondo event held at D Khel Indoor Stadium in Kohima culminated on Wednesday evening.

Kohima (three gold, one silver and four bronze), Wokha (one gold, four silver and two bronze) and Dimapur (two gold, three bronze) led the medal tally in the two-day event.

Additional director of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS), Megulhou Dolie, who graced the closing function as special guest, congratulated the players and said they have the potential to excel in both national and international levels.

District sports officer and deputy chief-de-mission of Wokha district for Nagaland Olympic, K Libemo Jami, also gave a brief speech.

Earlier, secretary general of Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) Abu Metha also watched the event, said taekwondo is a game of discipline and advised the players to be hard working, determined and consistent.

He also highlighted the life story of Mirabhai Chanu and told the players to take inspiration from Chanu stating that in order to get medals at the highest platform one need to run the extra mile.

President of Nagaland Taekwondo Association (NTA), Pele Khezhie, delivered the closing remark.
