Nagaland: No job placement made by employment exchanges in 2020

Employment generation in Nagaland was nil in 2020 with no placement made by employment exchanges though there were 5602 fresh registered job-seekers, which included 3150 male and 2452 female.

As many as 10 out of 27,317 fresh applicants got placements in the previous financial year ending December 31, 2019.

According to the data furnished by the department of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in its annual administrative report 2020-2021 tabled in the just concluded Assembly session, a total of 85397 applicants were on the live register of employment exchanges as on October 31, 2020.

Out of the total applicants who remain on the live register, 6339 are post graduates (male-2649, female-3690); 23823 – graduates (male-12661, female-11162); 13306 – pre-university (male-8311, female-4995); 14589 – matriculate (male-11245, female-3344); 24955 – below matric (male-21033, female-3922); 1752 – degrees/technical (male-1752, female-577)  and 633 – diploma (male-446, female-187).

Self-employment

Meanwhile, out of 1354 registered under self-employment as on December 31, 2020, as many as 254 applicants got placements- 131 (male-69, female-62) in Dimapur district, 71 in Zunheboto and 52 in Mon, while no placements were made in the rest of the districts.

The annual report went on to inform that there are 1114 “physically handicapped applicants remaining on the live register of employment exchanges as on December 31, 2020”.

Out of the total number, 34 applicants were graduate and above (male-29, female-5); 29 – pre-university (male-25, female-4); 73 – matriculate (male- 49, female-24); and 978 – below matric/ illiterate (male-669, female-309).
