Social Welfare appoints nodal department
DIMAPUR, March 24 (EMN): Social Welfare department has been re-designated as the nodal department for all matters relating to the implementation of the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013, including all the activities relating to the Safai Karamcharis/ sanitary and insanitary workers. All correspondence relating to the above-mentioned subject has to be addressed to the commissioner and secretary of Social Welfare department, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima, an official bulletin informed.
AYO inducts new team
Dimapur, March 24 (EMN): A new team of Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) was inducted during a programme held on March 23 at AYO office in Kohima. The new team would be led by Kesosul Christopher Ltu as president and Neidilhoutuo Sechü as the general secretary. The vice presidents are Petevituo Nakhro (Headquarter) and Dievi Yano (Administration).
PDMDS organises awareness programme
Dimapur, March 24 (EMN): Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Society (PDMDS), led by physiotherapists Dr. Bonikali V Achumi (PT) and Dr. Akaholi Yepthomi (PT) conducted a four-day awareness and training programme from March 20 to the 23rd. The programme was organised with an objective to spread awareness about Parkinson disease and other neurological conditions. An update from the society informed that Dr. Deepshika Mathur and Dr. Riya Shah spoke during the training held at NEISSR in Chümoukedima and Grace Nursing College. It informed that PDMDS centre is located at Physionique Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre, Circular Road, Dimapur.
AWO felicitates Neihunuo Sorhie
Dimapur, March 24 (EMN): Angami Women Organisation (AWO) has felicitated Neihunuo Sorhie, a handloom artisan who was conferred Padma Award 2023 by the President of India Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, on March 22. The women organisation, in a congratulatory note said, “We greatly appreciated her outstanding contribution towards the promotion and preservation of Nagaland handloom, motifs, and designs at various levels.” It further wished her success to achieve greater height and pray to Almighty for wisdom and guidance.
NLA Speaker condoles Yollow’s demise
Dimapur, March 24 (EMN): Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer, has condoled the demise of former minister, YM Yollow Konyak, who passed away on March 22 in New Delhi after a prolonged illness. The Speaker stated that Yollow had served the people as a politician and social worker. “He was admired by all for his courage, conviction, dynamism, wisdom and his bold administration. His contributions have brightened the lives of many people of the state,” Longkumer said. “I, on behalf of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly and on my own behalf, convey our heartfelt condolences,” he added.
