Power shutdown in parts of Dimapur

DIMAPUR — Power department has informed that shutdown of power supply is scheduled for 11kV Airport, Purana Bazaar, and Veterinary feeders on May 22 , 23 , 25, 26 & 27, from 4 am to 8 pm. The power shutdown is being necessitated for construction of 11kV trunk line to strengthen the 11kV feeders along main roads in Dimapur town, informed an update from SDO-II, Dimapur. The affected areas of the power supply are Burma Camp, Purana Bazaar, and parts of Walford, Naharbari, Darogajan, Padumpukhuri, Darogapathar and its adjoining areas. The department has requested all the public in the affected areas to extend cooperation and bear with the inconvenience during the shutdown period.

NSF informs on election of new TKS team

Consequent upon the dissolution of the office of Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) by the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), the federation has announced fresh election of TKS for the tenure 2023-2026. The chief election commissioner of NSF, K Elu Ndang, in an update, informed that the 22nd general election of TKS would be held on May 31 at Tangkhul Naga Long conference hall in Ukhrul town. It added that nomination forms would be issued on May 23 and 24.

ANHTU Dimapur meeting on May 27

Dimapur unit of the All Nagaland Hindi Teacher’s Union (ANHTU) has convened its general meeting on May 27 at 11 am in the residence of its banker, HSSPAK Burma Camp. All the Hindi teachers under Dimapur, Niuland and Chümoukedima districts have been requested to attend the meeting positively.

GHSS Meluri NSS volunteers conduct social work

After getting affiliation to NSS Cell Nagaland, the NSS volunteers of GHSS Meluri conducted their first social work on May 19. The NSS volunteers whitewashed the school auditorium and also conducted cleanliness drive, an update stated. NSS was brought to GHSS Meluri by Rhutsomu Pfithu, PGT, in April this year.

EMRS organises tribal artisan mela

Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Diphupar, organised a tribal artisan mela on May 20 in the school campus. An update from the school stated that a short cultural programme was held in the school auditorium where students showcased different cultural dances and songs. The celebration culminated with exhibition of cultural items, cultural art and sale different vocational products made by the students. Besides, indigenous food stalls were also set up by the alumni. Parents and alumni in large number attended the programme.

Kenye condoles demise of Tokheli

Minister of Power and Parliamentary Affairs, KG Kenye, has condoled the demise of Tokheli Sumi, wife of former MLA and advisor, Pukhayi Sumi. “I pray that Almighty God will grant solace, comfort and strength to my friend Pukhayi Sumi and his family during this time of grief and pain,” the minister stated in a condolence message. He has further prayed for the peace of the departed soul.
