NLA accepts resignations of nine members
Dimapur, Feb. 3 (EMN): Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) has accepted the resignations tendered by Picto Shohe, NDPP from 32-Atoizu AC; Amenba Yaden, NDPP from 21-Tuli AC; and L Khumo, NDPP from 57-Thonoknyu AC; from the membership of the 13th NLA with effect from February 2. The Speaker also accepted the resignations of Dr. Chotisuh Sazo of NDPP from 18- Chazouba; Zale Neikha of NDPP from 15-Southern Angami-II; Yitachu of NDPP from 20-Meluri; Keneizhakho Nakhro of NDPP from 8-Western Angami; Azheto Zhimomi of NDPP from 3-Dimapur-III; and YM Yollow Konyak of NDPP from 42-Wakching; with effect from Friday. Consequent to their resignation, the Speaker has declared the seats mentioned against their names as vacant.
Nagaland Police updates on seizures
Dimapur, Feb. 3 (EMN): In attempt to manage and maintain law and order, Nagaland Police conducted raids across the state in the past two weeks (January 17 to the 31st) and seized drugs, IMFL and other items worth INR 21,82,00,938. Nagaland Police, in an update, informed that the break-up wise of seized items include IMFL (INR 83,16,010), narcotics and drugs (INR 5,39,48,028), other contraband (INR 15,18,94,000), arms and ammunition and other explosive (INR 50, 900) and other seizures (INR 39, 92,000).
ABCC CEM CC discourages house-to-house campaign
Dimapur, Feb. 3 (EMN): Clean Election Movement Core Committee of the Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC CEM CC) has resolved to appealed to the leaders and elders of every village councils under the Angami region to organise common platforms for the intending candidates so as to discouraged and refrain from house-to-house canvassing. An update from the ABCC CEM CC media cell informed that the resolution to this effect was taken during a joint meeting of ABCC CEM CC along with the Angami Baptist Church Council and Angami Public Organisation on February 1 at ABCC Mission Centre.
KMC notifies traders
Dimapur, Feb. 3 (EMN): Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has directed all the business establishments/ institutions within its jurisdiction to renew their trade licence for the year 2023-2024 on or before April 30. KMC administrator, T Lanusenla Longkumer, informed that intensive trade licence inspection would be conducted from May 1 and cautioned that defaulters would be imposed INR 2000 as penalty along with other normal late fines as applicable.
Kohima Excise seizes IMFL
Dimapur, Feb. 3 (EMN): Basing on intelligence input, the Kohima Excise EEM duty party on Friday intercepted a truck bearing registration number NL07A 7184 and recovered around 7000 litres of assorted IMFL concealed under bags of wheat bran. The total value of the seized articles in the market was estimated to be INR 40 lakh. In this connection, one person has been arrested for violation of NLTP Act 89 and booked U/s 44(e) of NLTP Act 1989, an update stated.
NSCN (K) terminates one cadre
Dimapur, Feb. 3 (EMN): The Isak Sumi-led NSCN (K) on Friday terminated its cadre Sergeant Major Alex of Shepoumaramth Region from the active service of the Naga army. A termination azha issued by its commander Colonel Khekivi Aye stated that the action was taken against him for indulging in anti-social activities detrimental to the cause of the Naga nation. He added that the order would come into effect starting on February 3, 2023.
NSCN (IM) condoles demise of cadre
Dimapur, Feb. 3 (EMN): NSCN (IM) has condoled the demise of its cadre, Sergeant Thotmaso Shimphrui from Komlaching village of Phungtha Brigade under Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR), who passed away on February 2. An NSCN (IM)’s statement through its MIP stated that he joined the national service on June 12, 2011, and served the Naga nation with dedication, sincerity and loyalty till his last breath. It lamented that in his death, NSCN/GPRN has lost a great son and a patriot and added that the service rendered by him for the cause of the nation would always be cherished and recorded in the pages of Naga history. It further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for peace of the departed soul.
NDPP president appoints advisory board member
Dimapur, Feb. 3 (EMN): In the interest of the party, the president of Nationalist Democratic Progressive party (NDPP), Chingwang Konyak, has appointed S Chuba Longkumer as member of the advisory board of the party for the tenure 2021-2024. In a press release, Konyak stated that the order would come into immediate effect.
NSCN (YA) not to involve in state election
Dimapur, Feb. 3 (EMN): The Yung Aung-led NSCN/GPRN has declared not to involve in the upcoming Nagaland state assembly election in any way. A press release from the group warned that any of its members involved in the election process would be prosecuted as per the azha of the group.
AHoD meeting on Feb. 7
Dimapur, Feb. 3 (EMN): Home department has informed that a meeting of administrative head of departments will be held on February 7 at 1 pm in the secretariat conference hall. A DIPR report stated that the meeting will review agendas of the last meeting, requisition of post for direct recruitment to the NSSB, Aadhaar enabled biometric attendance system, timely disbursal of pension, PIMS and ePaybill, Chief Ministers Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), second CS conference, preparation for hosting the G20 meeting, e-Office and, any other agenda with the permission of the chair.
