LSHSS lauds Police dept. for road repair

Dimapur: Little Star Higher Secondary School (LSHSS), Dimapur, has expressed gratitude to the Police department for taking proactive action to fill up the pot holes in Midland area which has become problematic for all commuters, especially the students. “Not only the school and the students but the inhabitants of Midland are very grateful for this much needed relief that has been given to us,” the school stated in an update. The school also urged the department concerned to take up the road repairs between Dhobhinala and Midland on priority basis.

MHYO elects new team

The Mopong Hongkong Youth Organisation (MHYO) has elected a new team of office bearers for the tenure 2023-2026 during its 6th general conference held at Mopong EAC Headquarter on Wednesday. The new team would be led by M Moba as president, E Nyamnyei Konyak and Lhupong Shaomei as vice presidents, H Engo Wanmei as general secretary. It stated that a total of 23 office bearers and 14 advisory board members were elected. The assistant commandant of village guards (VG) Tobu, Panglong Konyak, was the special guest of the conference.

KSU to hold federal assembly

The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) will hold its 75th federal assembly on April 14 at Konyak Union Hall in Mon headquarters at 10 am. The union, in an updated, requested all the sub-ordinate presidents, general secretaries, women co-coordinators and speakers and all affiliated federating unit presidents, general secretaries, women-coordinators and speakers to attend the assembly. The union informed that the assembly would be attended by presidents of all the civil societies, union advisors, ENSF representative of KSU, Konyak intellectuals and host of dignitaries.

GPRN/NSCN discharges two members

The GPRN/NSCN (Unification) has discharged its deputy kilonser, Elhio Humtsoe and the secretary, Moa Walling, from party membership of NSCN and GPRN government with effect from April 11 owing to their health ailment and domestic problems respectively. “The service rendered during their stint in the national service is very much praiseworthy and acknowledged. GPRN/NSCN wishes them a healthy and prosperous future,” the GPRN/NSCN stated.

SP Peren informs on firing practice

The superintendent of police, Peren, has informed that DEF Peren would be carrying out firing practice on April 13 at firing range, Police Reserve in Peren district from 6 am onwards. The SP, in a circular, has requested authorities concerned to notify villagers of the areas nearby the firing range not to venture out in the notified area and also to prevent cattle from straying into the area to avoid any untoward incident or any injury.

Oral screening camp held in Pungro

As part of the observance of World Oral Cancer Screening Month, a screening camp for school children on oral health was organised at Little Flower School and Government Primary School in Pungro under Kiphire district on Wednesday. The screening camp was organised by the medical team of Pungro Community Health Centre led by Dr. Weri Mero, the medical officer of the CHC. Altogether, 997 students were screened on oral cancer and minor dental procedures were also provided to them, an update stated. Apart from the screening, students were also sensitised on oral health.

CIHSR observes World Health Day

The Community Health Nursing Department along with College of Nursing, CIHSR, in collaboration with Health and Wellness Centre, Diezephe village, observed World Health Day on April 12 at Diezephe council hall. The event was sponsored by Macleods Pharmaceuticals Ltd., TB Care Division, Dimapur. An update from CIHSR stated that Dr. Imtiwapang, SMO of Singrijan PHC, spoke on the theme ‘Health for all,’ while Imsutola Jamir, clinical dietician at CIHSR, spoke on the importance of nutrition and its impact on health. It added that the students of Government Middle School, Diezephe, have presented a play on good and bad habits. Altogether, 80 people attended the event.

Power dept. to test-charge transmission line

The Power department has informed that the construction of 2×10 MVA, 33/11 kV sub-station at Padumpukhuri and 33kV transmission line from existing 132/66/33kV Nagarjan sub-station to Padampukhuri new sub-station has been completed. It, therefore, informed that the transmission line passing through Kuda B (Full Nagarjan), Phaipijang, Naharbari, Darogapathar and Padumpukhuri would be test-charged at the rated voltage at 5:30 am on April 14 and would remain charged thereafter. All public are informed not to touch the said line nor go near the line. It cautioned that anybody doing so would be doing it at their own risk and the department would not be held responsible for an untoward incident whatsoever.
