FPS ordered to open for 15-20 days

Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): Directorate of Food and Civil Supplies has directed all the fair price shops under Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland districts to keep their shops open for 15–20 days every month. The order was issued to enable all the beneficiaries collected their monthly entitlement of PDS food grains at the rate of INR 3.00 per kg for both PHH and AAY scheme and ration entitlement of 5 kg per head for PHH beneficiaries and 35 kg per ration card for AAY beneficiaries. The assistant director of Food and Civil Supplies, S Kavito Aomi, has sought strict compliance and necessary action.

PCC holds talk on neurotheology

Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): Philosophy department of Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) organised a discourse on “Neurotheology: How belief in God changes our brain” with Naomi Kepen, children’s pastor and superintendent at Rengma Baptist Church, Sovima, as the resource person. The resource person discussed how belief in God and religious practices biologically alter portions of the brain, which in turn affects an individual’s moral and mental health. She elaborated on how improper conduct affects the human brain. An update from the college stated that questions such as ‘Is God hardwired into the human brain?,’ ‘Are social media platforms rewiring our brain?,’ ‘Can the brain be altered permanently?” were addressed during the event.

BCAA elects new team

Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): The Baptist College Alumni Association (BCAA), during its second meet-cum-dinner on October 26, elected new team of office bearers for the tenure 2022 to 2024 led by Hika S Chishi as president, Tokibo N Wotsa as vice president, Larito H Yimchunger and Noami Kent as secretary and assistant secretary, Avilo T Achumi and Lhiche Kupa as treasurer and assistant treasurer, Imisangla Pongen as information and correspondence secretary, Mhaseto Lohe, Künüzühü Chüzho and Chitatu Thurr as assistant information and correspondence secretaries.

SJU holds blood donation camp

Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): Social Work department of St. Joseph University, in collaboration with NSS and CIHSR, organised an awareness programme on ‘Blood donation and blood donation camp’ on October 27 on the theme “Together to care for health.” Dr. Nounchetuo Miachieo, consultant pathologist at CIHSR and resource person, shared on the historical background of blood donation and its importance. He also highlighted different types of blood donors such as voluntary blood donors, replacement donors and professional donors. He has encouraged voluntary blood donor as it would help people in time of emergency. Around two hundred students attended the awareness programme. It added that 66 students St. Joseph University donated blood during the camp.

NCSU convene general meeting

Kohima, Oct. 28 (EMN): Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers’ Union (NCSU), Head Office Kohima, has convened its general meeting on November 7 at 11 am at its conference hall. A press release issued by NCSU president, Pele Khezhie, and the secretary, John Kath, has informed all the NCSU members, especially the officials of district units to attend the meeting.

DC Dimapur directs shopkeepers

Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): In view of Chhat Puja, the deputy commissioner, Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal, in an order, directed all shops around Durga Mandir areas to open on October 30.

TSUD raises concern on bad road conditions

Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): Tenyimi Students’ Union Dimapur (TSUD) has expressed concern on the poor road conditions along the National Highway 29 from St. John’s College to Dhobinalla junction.

A press release issued by the union through its media cell has urged the concerned department to expedite the ongoing road project sanctioned earlier by the central government, which was allegedly put on hold for so many months.

“The mammoth sized potholes in the centre of Dimapur town are in no manner suitable for the smooth travel of the vehicles and with the approaching of exams, students are sure to encounter the immense hardship of plying to and from along the stretch of road brimming with potholes,” the union said.

The union further cautioned that the concerned department would be solely held responsible in the event of any incident arising due to delay in the completion of the road.

JCC hold skill development programme

Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): Japfü Christian College (JCC) in Kigwema organised a skill development programme on Thursday at Zapa indoor stadium, JCC campus.

An update informed that the programme was part of the college’s initiative to promote vocational skills amongst students.

It stated that Kekruwhelie Rhütsu, sushi chef for Royal Caribbean Cruise, gave a master class on sushi preparation (Uramaki sushi, Pfotomaki Sushi and kapamaki sushi). It mentioned that Rhütsu had earlier worked with Taj Hotels, Shangri-la and St. Regis, Starwood Company.

“Through his humble beginning and toward a now illustrious career – of job satisfaction, travel, new experience and a handsome salary, he encouraged the students to follow their dreams diligently,” it stated. 

Principal, JCC, Dr. Visakhonü Hibo, also gave a demonstration on Japanese and English floral arrangement.
