DDCF urges transporters to resume service

Dimapur, Sep. 24 (EMN): Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF) has appealed to the transport agencies, who have stopped their goods transportation services in Dimapur owing to the disturbances created by some unwanted elements recently, to re-start their services in good faith and for the well being of the city as a whole. DDCF also appealed to the concerned authorities to look in the matter and book the culprits, who are responsible for creating such a situation, and bring them to justice as per the law so that those affected by such unwanted elements could regain faith in the administration and start their operations without any issues. Meanwhile, it informed that the raffle draw has been deferred to November 26.

Drive against sale of tobacco in Jalukie

Dimapur, Sep. 24 (EMN): District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC), Peren, conducted the second quarterly enforcement drive against the sale of prohibited tobacco products in areas within a radius of 100 metres of educational institutions under COTPA Act Sec. 6 (a) & (b) at Jalukie town on September 20. As per a DIPR report, the enforcement squad seized tobacco products from five shops which were later destroyed at the police station.

Baby show competition held in Peren

Dimapur, Sep. 24 (EMN): A district level ‘Baby Show’ contest was organised by the department of Social Welfare, Peren, as part of Poshan Maah 2022 at GBs’ Hall in Peren town on September 22. An official update informed that pediatrician of District Hospital Peren, Dr. John Kent, who was the guest speaker of the competition programme, spoke on breastfeeding and complementary feeding of infants and young children. The first position was won by two-year-old Princess, while the second and third position were won by Ningchingyile (one year and three months) and Idilu Hega (two and half years) respectively. Altogether, 70 babies participated in the competition.

LFI College organises skill enhancement programme

Dimapur, Sep. 24 (EMN): With an objective to provide an opportunity to the students to showcase their skills and learn new skills, the Commerce department of Livingstone Foundation International College, Dimapur, organised a skill enhancement programme on September 23. Two faculty members namely Dr. Tainla Mar from Education department and Lito Zhimomi from English department demonstrated on pickle making and soap making to the students respectively. The students have also demonstrated their skills on paper bag making, scented candle making, door mat making and tote bag making.

MITE holds extempore debate competition

Dimapur, Sep. 24 (EMN): Current Event and Literary Clubs of Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE), Kohima, organised an open extempore debate competition on September 23. Representatives from Aesthetic Club, Cultural Club, Current Event Club, Ecological Club, Literary Club, and Red Ribbon Club comprising 13 student-teachers participated in the competition. Winners were given certificates by the teacher educators. After the extempore debate competition, a food fest was also conducted.

MHSS Mokokchung alumni meeting

Dimapur, Sep. 24 (EMN): The annual general body meeting of the Alumni Association of Model Higher Secondary School MHSS), Mokokchung, will be held on September 29 at 6 pm at the school premises. Noklak forms district sports council

Dimapur, Sep. 24 (EMN): Noklak district has approved the formation of district sports council. The approval to this effect was made during the monthly meeting od Noklak district planning and development board (DPDB) held on September 22 under the chairmanship of the deputy commissioner of Noklak, Hiazu Meru, in his office’s conference hall. A DIPR report stated that the house also approved  to upgrade PHC at Thonoknyu headquarters and New Pangsha village and registration of the Society of Noklak District Handloom and Handicrafts Council.

Poshan Maah celebrated in Mon

Dimapur, Sep. 24 (EMN): A cooking competition and local food show for Mon block was organised as part of the celebration of Poshan Maah 2022 on the theme ‘Mahila and Swasthya’ (women and health) in Hongpoi village on September 20. An official update stated that CDPO Mon, H Laitak Konyak, gave a briefing on Poshan Maah, where he stated that the objective of the celebration was to unite and bring about creative and indigenous nutritious ways for a healthy lifestyle. BDO-cum-BMM RD block Mon, T Tingyeih Konyak, and Hongpoi Village Council chairman, Manto, delivered short speeches in the programme which was chaired by block program manager, NSRLM, BBMMU Mon, S Yatao Konyak.
