AR seizes contraband items worth INR 2.69 crore
Dimapur, Jan. 17 (EMN): Mokokchung battalion of the Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with Nagaland Police, seized a huge consignment of contraband items and foreign-origin cigarettes worth over INR 2.69 crore in Mokokchung town on January 15. According to a defence release, the operation was carried out basing on prior inputs about the movement of traffickers in possession of contraband items from Kohima to Jorhat via Mokokchung in civil truck. It stated that the troops set up a mobile vehicle check post at Dailong ward along Mokokchung-Tuli road and intercepted the suspected truck. During checking, the team recovered 130 bags of poppy seeds and 50 cartoons of foreign cigarettes of Indonesian and Burmese origin along with two carriers. It added that the entire consignment along with the individuals was handed over to the police for further investigation.
Iconic Events Week to be live streamed
Dimapur, Jan. 17 (EMN): Nagaland government informed that unfurling of 126 national flags followed by brass and pipe band display by Nagaland Police and Assam Rifles at Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza in Kohima on January 18 from 10:45 am during the Iconic Event Week would be live streamed through the YouTube Channels. The programme is being organised in honour of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Besides, cultural programme at the Capital Cultural Hall could be viewed on MyGovNagaland from 4:15 pm onwards.
NDPP organises training on CMHIS
Mokokchung, Jan. 17 (EMN): The NDPP youth organisation of 26 Aonglenden AC in Mokokchung district organised a training programme on Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) in Ungma village on Tuesday wherein five persons were trained. The trainees were taught the process of registration to CMHIS, who in turn, would help the villagers to register themselves for the scheme. Nungsangmeren Longkumer, president of NDPP 26 Aonglenden AC, has thanked the 24 Angetyongpang AC NDPP youth organisation for providing the training. He also informed that the trained members would be sent to all the 7 units under 26 Aonglenden AC to register the beneficiaries. (Our Correspondent)
Training for election officials in Wokha
Dimapur, Jan. 17 (EMN): The deputy commissioner and district election officer of Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, informed that a training for the officials appointed for the Election Expenditure Monitoring Cell would be held on January 19 in his office’s conference hall at 12 noon. In this regard, he has requested all the concerned officials to attend the training.
ADC Pfutsero informs arms license holders
Dimapur, Jan.17 (EMN): The additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Pfutsero, Jopheth Woch, has ordered all arms license holders under Pfutsero sub-division in Phek district to report to the police station concerned for physical verification. Owners are requested to bring their arms and license booklet anytime between 9 am to 3 pm latest by January 31. The order has been issued following the rules 30 and 112 of the Arms Rules 2016, in view of the upcoming general election to the 14th NLA.
ECC students undertake tour
Dimapur, Jan. 17 (EMN): English department of Eastern Christian College (ECC), Dimapur, undertook an educational tour to the North of India from December 18 to the 30th on the theme ‘Beyond Literature.’ An update from the college stated that the team visited several prominent tourist destinations which included India Gate, Red Fort, Qutab Minar, Lotus Temple in Delhi; Rock Garden and Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh; Solang Valley, Atal Tunnel, Handimba Temple and Club House in Manali, Himachal Pradesh. The team comprising 43 students was led by Neitseinuo Solo, head of English department, and Lhiche-U Khutso, assistant professor of English.
KUD to celebrate ‘Khaozaosie Hok-ah’ festival
Dimapur, Jan. 17 (EMN): Khiamniungan Union Dimapur (KUD) will celebrate ‘Khaozaosie Hok-ah’ festival on January 19 and 20 at Diphupar ‘B’ village ground with Shikaho Zhimomi, president of Western Sumi Hoho (WSH), as the special guest. KUD has invited all the Khiamniungan community to the two-day festival and come with traditional attire.
