Nagaland: MG music awards held at RCEMPA

Kohima, June 18 (EMN): With a glittering and solemn ceremony, the Musician Guilds presented the MG Music Awards at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA) located at Jotsoma, Kohima on Saturday evening.

Nominees, performers and fans packed the hall with cheers and thunders of claps to make the night a memorable one for the winners.

The judges for the awards were Shalmali, an Indian pop sensation, song-writer and composer who won best female playback singer at the prestigious filmfare award for the song Pareshan and at the screen award; Times of India Awards and Stardust Awards and is also one the judges for Sony Entertainment Television’s India Idol Junior for auditions. Karan, an award winning Indian artiste, composer, producer and engineer based in Los Angeles, California among many other feats; and Among Jamir, a Mumbai based musician who has been touring with some of the biggest names in the country for more than a decade.

The Musician Guilds had earlier during a presser informed that it had received 235 entries from all the northeastern states in different categories.

The event was hosted by Ruopfuzhanuo Whiso.

Various artistes including Nourhevilie Khate; ZT Slingshot; Imliakum Aier and the electric cool kid; Asu J FT; Imsongdi Imsong; Big Dane; Bozio Nienu; Hime; Akhrieze; Mezanuo; Achumla and Albert put up mesmerising performances.

Best Pop Duo/Group Artiste – The Gluttones

Best Electronic Artiste – Valentina, GFRY, Jintu

Best Song of the Year – Klanjan for “Knight in Shining Armour”

Best Gospel Artiste – Achumla Jingrü Sangtam

Most Promising Artiste – 1.Joshua Shohe

2. O Daapun

Best Music Video – Lily Sawian feat B4NSHAN & Lucy for Suri

Best Folk Fusion Artiste – Achumla Jingrü & Albert Jingrü for Oh Mungmung

Best Sound Engineer – Ode, Tk Lemtur
