Nagaland has 63,322 beneficiaries under NSAP

Kohima, March 29 (EMN): There are 63,322 beneficiaries under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) funded by the ministry of Rural Development besides three other schemes implemented by the department of Social Welfare in Nagaland.
According to the annual administrative report of the department of Social Welfare 2021-22, there are 4,464 beneficiaries under Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS). It stated that under IGNWPS, deserving Below Poverty Line (BPL) widows of 40-59 years of age are provided a pension of INR 300 per month.
Under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAP), senior citizens who are BPL and 60-79 years of age are given a monthly pension of INR 200 per month. There are 51,750 beneficiaries under the scheme. Similarly, senior citizens who are BPL and 80 years and above are also given a monthly pension of INR 500 per month. There are 5,650 beneficiaries in this category.
The report also stated that the state government also provides INR 100 per month to each beneficiary as a state contribution towards IGNOAP.
Furthermore, there are 1,276 beneficiaries under Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS). It informed that under the scheme, deserving BPL persons with severe multiple disabilities from 18-59 years of age are provided with pension of INR 300 per month.

National Family Benefit Scheme
Meanwhile, National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) is being implemented under the ministry of Rural Development through state government and UT administrations, under which following the death (natural or accidental) of primary bread earner of families living below the poverty line, the bereaved families are assisted with a one-time financial aid of INR 20,000.
It stated that the eligibility for the NFBS are – the main breadwinner has to be a family member whose income constituted a major share of the family’s total earnings; the death of such bread- earner should have occured whilst she/he is above 18 years of age and below 60 years of age. Moreover, a female in the family, who is a home-maker is also considered a ‘bread-winner’ under this scheme.
The report added that a total of 535 beneficiaries were provided one-time financial assistance under this scheme during 2020-21.
