Kohima, Sep. 18 (EMN): The government of Nagaland has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, government of India, for establishment of a new medical college in Mon, 11 days after the Centre approved the facility.

The minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, informed through an update that the MoU was signed on September 15.

‘We anticipate and call upon our people to extend fullest co-operation from all ends to make this project a dream come true for our own progress and benefit,’ he added.

Phom had, on September 4, announced the Centre government’s approval and sanctioning of a new government medical college by upgrading the existing District Hospital Mon. He went on to say that the decision will boost Nagaland government’s effort to revolutionise the health sector and fulfil the long-cherished dream of the citizens, especially those from the eastern part of the state.

It may be mentioned that Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio had invited the union health minister to lay the foundation stone for the college.
