“As we seek blessings from the above for a bountiful harvest and also to bless our work tools and implements, may the blessings of the festival for peace, prosperity and goodwill with our fellowmen be manifested in our lives. On this joyous festive occasion, I wish you all happiness and success,” read the message from the governor.

Rio also took to Twitter to extend his greetings on the auspicious occasion.

“I extend my warm greetings to the Yimkhiung community on the occasion of Metemneo. May God’s bountiful blessings continue to be upon our fields and the festivity foster peace and brotherhood among all sections of people. Happy Metemneo!” he wrote.
