Nagaland government convenes consultative meeting on proposed autonomous council for eastern districts
KOHIMA — The Home department (political branch), government of Nagaland, has convened a consultative meeting to discuss the proposal of the Indian government for constitution of an Autonomous Council for the six eastern districts of the state.
This comes in the backdrop of Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation demanding for a separate ‘Frontier Nagaland’.
In a circular, Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha, informed that the meeting will be held on June 30 at 1:30 pm in the State Banquet Hall, Kohima.
Informing that the chief minister, deputy chief ministers, NLA Speaker, all the ministers, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs, chief secretary and other senior officials of the state government will be present, the Home department requested all the 20 legislators from the six eastern districts — Tuensang, Mon, Longleng, Kiphire, Shamator and Noklak — to attend the meeting.
The presidents and three representatives each of Central Nagaland Tribes Council and Tenyimi Peoples’ Organisation; presidents along with two representatives each of all indigenous tribal hohos and bodies in Nagaland, except tribal hohos from eastern districts, have been invited to the consultative meeting.
