Kohima, July 13 (EMN): A delegation of the Nagaland Gaon Burah Federation (NGBF) called on the governor of Nagaland, RN Ravi on Tuesday to discuss various matters including the Naga political issue.

The delegation, comprising NGBF president Shalem Konyak, general secretary Shikuto Zalipu and media secretary Akhu Naga, urged Ravi for an early solution to the protracted Naga issue.

Speaking to Eastern Mirror after the meeting, Zalipu said: “Since talk have been concluded since 2019 October 31, and till now we can count years -- running in three years now after completing the talk -- that is why we have asked if there is any stumbling block and why the government of India is delaying such a problem”.

Zalipu also maintained that ‘solution won’t take time now’, asserting that the pandemic situation has improved after hitting the progress of many things.

It was also informed that the NGBF delegation asked Ravi when the government of India would announce the solution. They were however told to have ‘patience’ and it (solution) ‘will be announced soon'.

It was learnt that issues like taxation were discussed during the meeting and the delegation further urged the government of India to bring a solution without delay in order to end the taxation menace.

Zalipu said that ‘if we continue to talk about taxation, extortion and others without solution, we will only be inviting another problem’. He maintained that a solution should come first.

Further, he informed that the NGBF had submitted the list of Gaon Buras (GBs) in Nagaland -- more than 8000 members – to the governor.
