The NPCC has backed the nationwide 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' campaign, raising concerns over examination paper leaks and recruitment irregularities.
KOHIMA — The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Monday expressed concern over the recurring incidents of examination paper leaks and alleged irregularities in recruitment processes, stating that the future of millions of students was being compromised due to systemic failures.
Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan, Kohima, NPCC working presidents C Apok Jamir and Khriedi Theunuo announced the party's support for the nationwide 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' campaign launched by the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) and the National Students' Union of India (NSUI).
Jamir said the campaign, launched by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in Kota on June 17, seeks to raise the voice of students against examination paper leaks, recruitment irregularities and the challenges faced by the youth.
He said the issue should not be viewed through a political prism but from the perspective of students and their families, who make immense sacrifices to secure quality education and employment opportunities.

"A mother dreams of seeing her child succeed while a father often takes loans or even sells property to provide education. Students themselves spend 10 to 14 hours every day preparing for competitive examinations. Yet, their hard work is destroyed because of institutional failures," Jamir said.
He alleged that over 150 examination paper leaks in the past decade had affected around 7.5 crore students across the country, while those responsible had largely escaped accountability.
"The government has remained silent and has failed to take proactive steps to address these anomalies. What we are witnessing today is a collapse of institutional credibility. Students who believe in merit are losing faith because opportunities are increasingly being influenced by corruption and backdoor appointments," the NPCC leader said.

Jamir also referred to various student protests across the country, including demonstrations in Nagaland over alleged illegal recruitments, saying they reflected growing frustration over the failure of institutions entrusted with ensuring fairness in examinations and recruitment.
He said the Congress had taken up the issue in the larger public interest and for the future of the country's youth, adding that reforms were needed to restore confidence in the education and recruitment systems.
The campaign demands a transparent and accountable examination system, strict action against those involved in paper leaks, protection of students' interests, independent institutions to conduct fair examinations and reforms to rebuild trust in the education and recruitment process.
Responding to a query on the campaign's implementation in Nagaland, Theunuo said the NPCC is directing party functionaries and grassroots units across the state to create awareness about the campaign.
"For the Congress party, we are determined to continue this campaign until justice is delivered. We will continue to expose the failures of the education and examination system because this is ultimately for the benefit of the student community," added Theunuo.
