Kohima, Feb. 24 (EMN): Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection (LM&CP) organised a one-day training on National Pension System (NPS) for its staff at the Directorate’s conference hall, Kohima, on Wednesday.
The resource persons were Aochuba Pongener, senior treasury officer (South); Chichamo Odyuo, treasuries and accounts; and Mego from south treasury, Kohima.
The participants, who fall under the category, were enlightened on the National Pension Scheme (NPS). The trainers also taught on implementation of NPS; status of NPS; investment/ penal interest; withdrawal and filling of form.
Besides, participants were sensitised on the importance of linking phone numbers and email for communication purposes and to update on NPS.
Haopu Singson, department nodal officer, informed that the objectives of the programme was to get all the present staff enrolled under the new national pension system to familiarise with NPS pros n cons, to remove the general misconception that NPS is not as good as the old GPF system post retirement.
He added that the programme was organised to have better understanding and approach towards NPS and to execute NPS related works better for the directorate as well as for all the districts with little error.
Interactive session on dealing with NPS was also conducted after the programme.
