DIMAPUR — The 34th Regional-Level Youth Parliament Competition 2023-24, under the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, hosted by Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), Project Sewak, Dimapur, was held on Monday at the school premise.
Ex-parliamentarian S Hukavi Zhimomi, the chief guest of the event, in his address, encouraged the students to work hard and acquire knowledge as the future belongs to them.
Zhimomi shared how the world today is taken over by knowledge, unlike the old days, and now the pen has become mightier than the sword.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]He also stressed on democracy and how it is the best form of government as people get to choose their government.
The former MLA urged the students to educate the people in the country that ideal democracy cannot be achieved if people are illiterate or ignorant, and that it is only through education they can hope to bring change in the country.
Zhimomi also reminded the students that they may be students today, but they have to take up responsibilities tomorrow.
He encouraged the students saying that he has come across hundreds of students from KV schools and that many of them have become successful politicians, bureaucrats, officers, businessmen and other in other professions.
The KV school products are today holding key posts in the central government, he added.
Assistant commissioner of KVS, Tinsukia region, Rajender Kumar, who was the guest of honour, said that besides academics, KV schools conduct lots of activities among which youth parliament is one of the crucial activities.
Talking about the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Kumar said that formulating a new policy or taking a new decision is not easy as it has to undergo various processes. He maintained that the NEP is all about “learning throughout life.”
