Advisor Kudecho Khamo urges government officials in Chozuba to work with commitment and serve the people.
CHOZUBA — Advisor for Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD) and MLA Kudecho Khamo on Wednesday urged government officials to work with commitment and leave behind a positive footprint during their tenure, stating that they should be remembered for their service even after being transferred.
He was addressing a departmental coordination meeting for all departments under the Chozuba sub-division held at the Vamuzo Memorial Town Hall in Chozuba.
Stressing the need for cohesive functioning among departments, Khamo said the meeting should serve as an opportunity for officials to coordinate and work collectively for the welfare and development of the people. Assuring the full support of the district administration, the advisor also urged the public to seek advice and guidance from the administration.
He said Chozuba, being connected to the national highway, needs to strategise and plan for future generations, while pointing out the need for better roads and infrastructure as the town continues to grow.
Khamo acknowledged the progress being made in various sectors, including the medical department, Chozuba Town Council, and cleanliness initiatives, noting that Chozuba town had been awarded the cleanest town under Phek district. He also appreciated the police for maintaining peace and security, saying the peaceful environment has allowed businesses to emerge and people to move freely.
Recalling Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio's remarks during the 50th anniversary celebration of Phek district, where Phek was described as the most progressive district in the state, Khamo called upon officials to retrospect on their roles, responsibilities, and contributions towards the district. He challenged them to utilise the maximum resources of their departments for the upliftment of the district and serve the people diligently in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Khamo also encouraged young people to venture into entrepreneurship, while appealing to banks and financial institutions to extend support to aspiring entrepreneurs. He called for greater cooperation between financial institutions and the people and pitched for organising financial literacy and outreach programmes in Chozuba.
He said the progress of the people should go hand in hand with the growth of financial institutions and urged banks to organise a mela to create awareness about available financial services and opportunities.
Highlighting the potential of the Chakhesang people in the animal husbandry and veterinary sector, Khamo urged the department concerned to tap the willingness and potential of the people. He also expressed satisfaction with the performance of the people in the agriculture and horticulture sectors.
Khamo further urged departments to adopt one village each and develop model projects within a year, assuring his willingness to participate in the initiative.
He called for strengthening social assistance programmes, particularly old-age pensions and disability benefits, so that eligible beneficiaries are not left out. He also proposed organising monthly cleanliness drives in Chozuba to maintain a clean and hygienic town.
Additionally, Khamo pitched for a fair in Chozuba involving MSMEs, self-help groups (SHGs), and farmers, which would provide a platform for them to sell their products while enabling government departments to conduct outreach programmes and interact directly with citizens.
Congratulating Dr. Lolekhol Pucho, Senior Medical Officer at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Chozuba, for receiving the Phek District Commendation Award during the Independence Day celebration, Khamo said such recognition should encourage officials to continue serving the people with dedication. He called upon heads of offices and officials to adopt a servanthood attitude, encourage one another, and collaborate for the welfare of the people.
The meeting was chaired by EAC Chetheba Nengpichong Singsit, while the introductory address was delivered by Additional Deputy Commissioner Zapuno Khatso.
Khatso said the meeting was an initiative of Khamo with the objective of addressing concerns related to the Chozuba sub-division and improving coordination among departments.
She added that the meeting was intended to update participants on various programmes and projects being undertaken by departments and seek suggestions for improving their implementation and delivery.
Sevonyi Keyho, Chairman of Chozuba Town Council, welcomed the newly posted officers and urged them to leave positive footprints during their tenure, while congratulating Dr. Pucho on receiving the district-level commendation award.
Dr. Pucho informed that kidney and liver test facilities are available at CHC Chozuba at minimum charges and appealed to the public to avail of the medical facilities and government schemes. The branch manager of SBI Chozuba also spoke during the meeting.
During the meeting, officials also raised concerns over the non-introduction of the Science stream at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Chozuba, despite an earlier agreement in principle. The house urged the School Education department to introduce the Science stream from the next academic session.
