Kohima, Oct. 12 (EMN):
The Kohima Town Christian Revival Church Youth Fellowship (KTCRCYF) is organising an open Badminton Tourney on October 14-15 at Grand Vista Arena, Meriema in Kohima.

This was announced during a press conference held at Hotel Crescent International at Kohima addressed by Convenor of the organising committee, Zhaviu Pienyu alongwith Thepfuzolie R Metha president of KTCRCYF and other colleagues – Sedekhriezo Whuorie, Avitho Chale and Aphrekie Phewhuo

The convenor said the tournament aims to encourage the players and the church to involve in physical body exercise and take care in to keep it fit, while he also added that the event is aimed to bring people together as one creating unity among the individual, churches and the youth.

Open to all, the tournament will be played in four categories — beginners, amateur, 40+ (no pairing restrictions) and open category.

A total of INR 2.39 lakh is being set for the prize money, wherein the winner in the beginners’ category- men’s doubles will receive INR 4,000 and runner-up will pocket INR 2,000.

In the amateur category, men’s single champion will receive INR 15,000, runner-up will receive INR 8,000 and men’s doubles champion will receive INR 30,000 and runner-up will receive INR 15,000.

In 40+ (no pairing restrictions) men’s doubles’ champion will receive INR 30,000 and runner up will receive INR 15,000.

The champion of mixed doubles open category will receive INR 30,000 while runner-up will receive INR 15,000; champion of men’s doubles will receive INR 50,000 and runner-up will receive INR 25,000.

The tournament is being organised in collaboration with NV Press, Grand Vista Arena, Nagaland Badminton Association (NBA), T Tachu and Co, PC and Kohima District Badminton Association (KDBA).

It informed that over 60 teams have already registered for the two-day event with prominent players from various districts confirming their participation.
