Kruse calls to understand one’s identity

Salhoutuonuo Kruse and village leaders of Mezoma Basa after laying the foundation stone for community hall on Saturday.

Kohima, Aug. 19 (EMN): Minister of Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, on Saturday stressed on the necessity to understand the past and roots to discovery one’s identity.

She stated this at the 8th Mezo Basa Day-cum-laying of foundation stone for community hall in Mezoma Basa under Kohima district. She said understanding one's root would help to discover identity and added that it is important to respect one’s traditional attires and culture.

Kruse also acknowledged the people of Mezoma village for their help and support in enabling her victory in the last election. She also sought the people's support and cooperation to ensure that development comes to the region through collective efforts.

Rovigwelhou Chüsi informed that the village was officially recognised by the state government in 2009 and inaugurated in 2011. He said the village currently has 127 households. He added that the village still lack basic amenities.

The village council chairman, Kezhaselie K Kuotsu, delivered greetings, while folk songs were presented by Mezo Basa Youth and Mezoma Youth Organisation.

The programme was chaired by Kezhalezo Khawakhrie, secretary of village council, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Khrielievi Chusi, chairman of VEC.
