Kohima inter-high school tourney: Rüzhükhrie Govt. Hr. Sec School lift football trophy

Kohima, April 9 (EMN): Rüzhükhrie Govt. Hr. Sec. School (RGHSS) on Saturday emerged as the winner of the Kohima inter-high school tourney 2022 held at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS) Kohima.

The four-day long tournament was organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS).

 In both boys and girls football, RGHSS emerged victorious, as the boy’s team beat Loyola Hr. Sec. School, while the girls team beat TM Govt. Hr. Sec School in the final matches to clinch the trophy.

Meanwhile in indoor sports, Kesinuo Dzuvichu of Northfield School emerged the winner of table tennis single (girls), while Ketoulhounuo Rame of Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School was the runner-up; Vichaduonuo Rame and Ketoulhounuo Rame of Don Bosco were the winners of table tennis doubles (girls), while Letsonuo Kire and Pekrusenuo Yiese from Northfield School were the runners-up.

Vilavotuo Linyu of Baptist Hr. Sec. School won the table tennis single (Boys), Mhasivi Miachieo of Khedi Baptist School won the runner-up position; Mhasivi Miachieo and Medovizo Suokhrie of Khedi Baptist School emerged as winners of table tennis double (boys) and Vipedezo Khezhie and Kethosetuo Khruomo of Northfield School were the runners-up.

In badminton singles (girls), Nguluonuo Miachieo of Little Flower Hr. Sec. School was the winner and Lhuovisanuo Florence of Don Bosco School was the runner-up; Newongma Limbu and Arshia Gurung of Holy Family School were the winners of badminton double (girls) and Thepfungunuo Kire and Neikdeduonuo Sachu of Baptist High School were the runners-up.

Whereas, in badminton singles (Boys) Erenbemo Odyuo of Mezhur Hr. Sec. School was the winner, while Menguphrezo Solo was the runner-up; Veisaneikho and Krishna Thapa of Mezhur Hr. Sec. School were the winners of badminton doubles (boys), Mughakishe and Tobeto of Holy Family Hr. Sec. School were the runners-up.

The additional director of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS), Megolhou Dolie, who was the special guest at the closing ceremony, said sports have become an important social and cultural activity of the modern world.

He stated that sports helps in the all round development of human personality and added that sports provide healthy and socially acceptable opportunities for the people and nation to compete against each other.

Further he added that sports provides ample and healthy means for recreation and relaxation of human mind and body, while he also exhorted the students to be disciplined, dedicated and determined with hard work.
