Kohima DC warns against imposition of total lockdown by any authority

Kohima, May 31 (EMN): The deputy commissioner and chairman of District Task Force (DTF), Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie, on Monday reiterated that any additional restrictions or imposition of total lockdown by any authority other than the DTF is “strictly unwarranted”.
The order came close of on the heels of reports that many colonies and wards in Kohima had imposed total lockdown with more restrictions other than the ones issued by the district administration in view of surge in Covid-19 cases.
The deputy commissioner stated that if under any extra-ordinary circumstance or situation such additional restriction is necessitated, the same should be conveyed to the Kohima District Task Force on Covid-19 for necessary approval.
‘Any person or group of persons acting in violation of this order shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005,’ it warned.
Further, it informed that the existing guidelines in Kohima district will continue to be in force till June 11.
