Kohima citizens to celebrate Sunrise Service at War Cemetery

Kohima, April 16 (EMN): Along with the rest of Christians around the world, the Kohima Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship (KBPF) will celebrate Sunrise Service on April 17 at the historical WW-II Cemetery in Kohima at 5 am.
Christians across the world celebrate Sunrise Service to mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who was crucified on Mount Calvary and rose again after three days. The organisers have planned to celebrate it in a grand manner following the lifting of Covid protocols, which had earlier prohibited gathering of people in large numbers.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror on the eve of the event, KBPF president, Rev. Vezopa Rhakho, informed that KBPF had organised a programme last year at Naga Solidarity Park as the War Cemetery was closed.
“Many people are excited about the programme as they are longing to have this kind of service,” Rev. Rhakho said adding, “In a way it is a kind of tradition for the Kohima dwellers irrespective of denominations, they want to celebrate the resurrection of our lord Jesus Christ and it is a significant event for the Kohima citizens.”
He exuded hope for a good turn up of the people and maintained that the organisers are praying for good weather so that the people, irrespective of denominations, will come together to worship God and dedicate themselves and their life.
He informed that Rev. Sentisashi Aier, senior pastor of Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo (KABA), would be the speaker and greetings be shared by him.
According to the programme, choirs from Ministers’ Hill Baptist Church and Tangkhul Baptist Church, Kohima, would present songs, while Dziesekho Kense, president of Kohima Baptist Youth Fellowship, and Kivitoly Yeptho, would read the scripture. Thingpio N Lam, president of Kohima Town Baptist Women’s Union, would deliver the invocation prayer, while Dr. Kevichalie Metha, pastor of Peraciezie Baptist Church, would do the intercessory prayer and Dr. Ruokuovilie Sachü, pastor of Khedi Baptist Church, would pronounce the benediction.
The programme would be led by Mhonchumo S Lotha, pastor of Kohima Lotha Baptist Church, while Tovili Assumi would be pianist and James Swu, music director of Sumi Baptist Church Kohima, would be the song leader.
KBPF has extended invitations to everyone to join in the celebration.
