Kenye urges contractors to complete NH roads on time

DIMAPUR — Minister of Power and Parliamentary Affairs, KG Kenye, has urged the construction firms/ contractors involved in the ongoing construction of National Highways (NH) in Phek district to give intensive efforts during the current dry season for completion of the works on time.

Kenye stated this during the monthly meeting of Phek district planning and development board (DPDB) held at DPDB hall in Phek town on January 17. While referring to the three existing NH roads in the district, he has termed Phek as one of the most fortunate districts in Nagaland.

Kenye, who is also the chairman of Phek DPDB, also informed the members about the prospective developmental projects in the district including development of waterways (Tizu-Zunki Rivers) and sought sincere support from the departmental officers wherever required.

The minister also expressed gratitude to the legislators, committee conveners/ members and HODs/ officers of Phek district for their devoted efforts in making the celebration of the 50 years of Phek district on December 21 a grand success, stated a DIPR report.

The minister further sought proposals for renovation, extension and furnishing of the DPDB hall in Phek town.

Also speaking in the meeting, MLA and advisor of Taxes and CAWD, Kudecho Khamo, urged upon the officers to be devoted for more progress of the district so as to fulfill the comments made by Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, on the occasion of 50 years celebration of Phek district on December 21, 2023. During the programme, Rio described Phek as the most progressive district in the state.

Meanwhile, MLA Dr. Neisatuo Mero expressed his appreciation to KG Kenye, his colleagues and officials for making the 50 years celebration of Phek district a grand success.

Agendas for registration of societies in respect of Phuyo Village Watershed Committee in Sakraba and Kiavi Society in Zelome were discussed and forwarded to the government for approval.

Report stated that DSCO, Peleneilhou Patrick, made a power point presentation by highlighting activities and functions of the department of Soil and Water Conservation in the district at the meeting.

DEF Police and Higher Education departments were entrusted for powerpoint presentation in the next Phek DPDB meeting.

The deputy commissioner and vice chairman of Phek DPDB, Kuko Mero, conducted the discussion during the meeting.
