DIMAPUR — Minister of Roads and Bridges, G Kaito Aye, has called upon the officers of the department to prioritise on proper connectivity stating that good roads would only lead to better economy and social well-being of the communities.

The minister stated this while addressing the officers of PWD (R&B) during an appraisal meeting held in his office chamber at Nagaland Civil Secretariat on April 11. The minister, who chaired the meeting, conveyed appreciation to the department for making progress in the road sector and encouraged them to be even more active and diligent and focus on quality achievement and successful completion of works, an update from the press secretary to the minister stated.

The meeting was attended by commissioner secretary, joint secretary, engineer-in-chief of NPWD, chief engineer of PWD (R&B), additional chief engineer of PWD (R&B), superintending engineer (design) and executive engineers of various programme under PWD (R&B).

During the meeting, the commissioner secretary has highlighted on the policy issues and policy changes by the government of India for various schemes/ programmes and personnel management, while the engineer-in-chief of NPWD and chief engineer of PWD (R&B) have assured to do all possible and give their best to take the department at par with all the departments.

The additional chief engineer, in his remarks, has acknowledged that Nagaland has the best team of engineers in the department and expressed hope that the department would be able to reach greater heights with technological improvement and upgrade of technical facilities.

Meanwhile, the programme officers gave paper presentations on the status of all the road projects being undertaken across the state and highlighted the challenges and efforts being made on the road sector.
