Horticulture minister urges officers to work for welfare of farmers

DIMAPUR — Minister of Horticulture and Women Resource Development, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, has called upon the officers and staff of Horticulture department to gear themselves up and work hard for the uplift of farmers and the people.

Speaking at the felicitation programme organised by the Horticulture department in her honour on Wednesday in its conference hall, Kruse has appreciated the department for their hard work put in for the welfare of farming community in the state. She also encouraged the officers and staff of the department to gear themselves up and work harder for the uplift of the farmers and people.

Besides, she urged the officers and staff not to bear misconception that being a woman, she would only stand for women. She has assured to do what is best for both man and woman alike, an update from Horticulture department stated.

Kruse further looked forward to having more interactions with the officers and staff to get clearer picture of the department. In this regard, she has sought cooperation and opinions in order to work for the betterment of the state.

The commissioner and secretary of Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Anenla T Sato, expressed hope that the minister would take the department to new heights under her guidance. She also expressed optimism that with the contribution from everyone, many concepts would materialised.

She also called upon the officers and staff to work together as Horticulture department is one of the vital departments which could deliver justice to the grassroots. She advised the department to identify the gaps and lapses as well as identify the potential crops and also motivate the farmers to produce the right crops in order to uplift the state’s economy.

She further sounded on the need to commercialise the various horticultural products. In this regard, she stated that every officer and staff has an important role to play and do justice to the faith reposed on the department by the people.

In a welcome address, Meyasashi, head of department, has highlighted the various activities of the department. A short powerpoint presentation on the departmental activities were presented by the programme officers, district horticulture officers, establishment in-charge and DDO.
