DIMAPUR — Minister of PWD (R&B), G Kaito Aye, inaugurated the PMGSY road phase 1 and 2 during a programme held at Kiusam town public ground in Kiphire district on January 11.
Addressing the gathering at the inaugural programme, the minister attributed cooperation of the public for enabling development reached Kiusam area and added that more development would take place in the district.
Kaito mentioned that people in Saramati belt are blessed with beautiful landscape and has huge potentials to develop into a tourist destination. He, however, stated that bad road connectivity has been a hindrance towards achieving the goals. In this regard, he has sought people’s support saying that the government is eager to develop the area.
He further informed that trans-road construction from Thonok-Kiusam-Pungro-Meluri is being awaited for clearance.
Short speeches were delivered by MLA Benei M Lamthiu,; executive engineer of Kiphire, Hutoshe; and ADC of Kiphire, D Robin.
Other highlights of the programme included presentation of cultural dance by Sangkumti village and Kiusam town women union.
The programme was chaired by T Asang Mary.
Earlier, the minister also inaugurated the Phelungre-Kiusam Zinki Bridge.
