Assam Rifles organises rally against drug addiction

DIMAPUR — Commemorating International Youth Day, Assam Rifles (AR), in collaboration with Brahma Kumari and Kripa Foundation, organised a rally and workshop against drug addiction in Kohima on Friday.

A defence release stated that a total of 150 participants from Gorkha Youth Association, Assam Rifles Ex-servicemen Association (youth wing) and troops of Assam Rifles participated in the rally from Phulbari Chowk to Kenguruse auditorium in Kohima Garrison by displaying a banner with slogan “Drug-free Nagaland.”

The event was rally was followed with kiosk visit of Kripa Foundation wherein the participants were educated on the effect of drug abuse and substance consumption and likely measures and means to overcome the addiction.

Pamphlets were also distributed to the participants highlighting the effects of drug abuse and remedies to overcome the substance consumption.

A workshop was also organised by Brahma Kumari Foundation on “Determined mind for successful life,” wherein BD Rupa from Brahma Kumari Foundation focused on determined and disciplined mindset to achieve success.

In a separate programme, Assam Rifles organised a cleanliness drive at Kezobasa village, near Chakabama on January 11, wherein a total of 50 villagers including children participated in the cleanliness drive.

An awareness lecture covering the significance of cleanliness, health and hygiene was organised as part of the event.

It stated that the cleanliness drive has motivated the villagers especially children to keep their surroundings clean and also to maintain good hygiene and sanitation.
