Tattoo artist Lanuakum Changkija discovered his love for art at the age of 10, with his Dad as his mentor.
His father would draw comic characters for him and Lanuakum would try his hand at copying his father’s art, this led him to his passion for tattooing. Without any formal education, Lanuakum learned the art with the guidance of three professional tattoo artists.
He believes that a tattoo should not just be a piece of art but an inspiration for the person, something that will set the person apart from others.

Eastern Mirror: How would you describe your art style, and what are some of your specialties?
Lanuakum Changkija: Free hand mostly. I love to do tribal, portrait and gothic.Eastern Mirror: Tell us your first encounter with the art and the first piece that you created and on whom?
Lanuakum Changkija: My First tattoo encounter was on a friend of mine named Along, back in 2012 who wanted to re-work on a tattoo he got before.

Eastern Mirror: What are some of your inspirations? What inspires your art and your tattoos?
Lanuakum Changkija: Anything that looks Cool, Beautiful with some meaning to it inspires me. It must be known that each tattoo is unique in its own way and my style involves never making the same tattoo twice as they should all have their own individual identity.

Eastern Mirror: What are your current favorite patterns or techniques to tattoo with? Are there any shapes, or designs, or different techniques that you’re currently really into?
Lanuakum Changkija: No such favorite pattern or technique. I Love to tattoo new designs in any pattern or any style.

Eastern Mirror: How important is it that the artist’s personality interconnects well with the client’s?
Lanuakum Changkija: According to me an artist should first try to know what a client really wants and try to work accordingly with the designs and not try to drift the client according to what the artist wants. Satisfaction of clients should be paramount.

Eastern Mirror: What are some of the things that make a tattoo look good or bad?
Lanuakum Changkija: First of all selection or designing of a tattoo, which would suit the spot where the client wants it. Perfect placement is critical and so is the right design. Clients look at tattoos from the WEB, TV, etc. and think that they will look good on them, however, many a times these have to be modified to make them look stunning.

Eastern Mirror: What do you think a client should expect from you as a tattoo artist.
Lanuakum Changkija: All my clients expect that I totally understand their requirements including times when the tattoo itself has an emotional connection to them. They expect that I would be able to bring their thoughts and ideas to life in paint.
