Polite, witty and handsome – Hukupa Thulu-o won the first ever Mr. Nagaland Pagent in 2009 and has since gone on to compete for Mr. International 2013 at Jakarta Indonesia after winning the Mr. India International 2013 pageant.
Hukupa has been out of the scene for quite some time and as Nagaland gets to wonder where he has been all those years, Eastern Mirror’s “Style Spot” is glad to present our exclusive interview with the inspiring personality that is Hukupa Thulu-o. Hukupa unveils some of the most important events of his life.EASTERN MIRROR: Was modeling something you always wanted to do, or did it just kinda happen after you won Mr. Nagaland in 2009?
Hukupa Thulu-o: Modeling is what I’ve always wanted to do, but I realized that without winning a Title in a pageant, it is hard to find my path but I am more into pageant than modeling lifestyle.

EASTERN MIRROR: You have left an inspiring mark in the modeling industry. But looking at the present situation the platform you received 6 years ago has faded with times. Do you think it is because the society does not acknowledge male to be part of such industry?
Hukupa Thulu-o: If only there are stable people behind the organization, it is never late to start still.
Yes , not all but it’s not easy to let others acknowledge such a career and equating it to a female role…you know male roles in our society . I must be honest, female pageant organization are much stronger and better determined.
I wish such beautiful platforms are brought back to life, so it can give hope to the youth who never stop dreaming still.

EASTERN MIRROR: Are you still in touch with modeling. What have you been up to since Nagaland saw you last with Mr. International 2013?
Hukupa Thulu-o: I have no contract with modeling, as I said earlier I am more into the pageant world that modeling routine.
I am trying to get my hands into Naga wrestling which I grew up with. I have been selected from Chokri Area Wrestling Association (CAWA) and I will be participating for the Chakhesang Wrestling Association on 18th February 2016 at Pfutsero my hometown. Wish me luck hehehe.

EASTERN MIRROR: What has been your favorite shoot, campaign and work to date? Is there any new passion that you are engaged with at present?
Hukupa Thulu-o: No such favorite so far but I must say the shoots during the Mr. Nagaland, Mr. Northeast and Mister International India and beach shoot at Jakarta, Indonesia were memorable and a once in a life time experience. I am looking forward to work with some Naga photographers which might be my favorite. I have gotten a few platforms for pageantry but I have never received an opportunity for a campaign, something I have always longed for.
As mentioned earlier I have been trying my hands on Naga wrestling which I have grown up with and certainly this is my new found passion.

EASTERN MIRROR: Give us 3 facts about you people may not know.
Hukupa Thulu-o: Being an easy man I am like an open book bigmouth with no cover.
