Music is something the world would be lost without! We feel it, we breathe it, we love it! Eastern Mirror’s – Rhythm of Love- connects our readers to music through conversation with artists as they share their experience with their love …… MUSIC
Music moves us, opens our emotions – passing all barriers. Music is a piece that we can all connect to so Readers get connected with your favorite artists every Friday with Rhythm of Love.

EASTERN MIRROR: Tell us about your musical background. When did you realize you wanted to do music?
DAHIL PFITHU: Music has always been a passion since my childhood and always will be an integral part of me. I do not have any formal Music training but everything I learnt was self taught.
My desire to explore and peruse the musical world grew stronger and stronger and when people began to appreciate and encourage me, I realized I could do music for the rest of my life.

EASTERN MIRROR: You have participated and won competitions, which competition opened doors for you? Do you believe participating in competitions help musicians gain recognition?
DAHIL PFITHU: Yes!.. I have participated in some competitions and also had some few awards. The competition that turned my life around would be definitely when I participated in the Naga Idol 2007 now known as Naga Orphues Hunt. Even though, it was not a massive success for me it was a morale booster and has an impact.
Yes!.. In a way, Participation in various Competition may favor musicians to receive due recognition but I am not of the view that recognition comes only through that competition door. It can happen in many different ways.

EASTERN MIRROR: Do you play any instruments? Which is your favorite?
DAHIL PFITHU: Yes!. I love to strum my Guitar. It is the first musical Instrument I learnt to play and it definitely is my favourite (would love to learn Keyboard).

EASTERN MIRROR: What ranks among the favorite achievements that you have accomplished so far?
DAHIL PFITHU: The most wonderful achievement so far would be, being recognized and invited to play at the inauguration of Hornbill Festival as “Achieving musician of the state “ 2011. and my Debut Album “Change” released in 2011 is definitely an accomplishment.

EASTERN MIRROR: Talk us through your song writing process.
DAHIL PFITHU: For most of my songs, inspiration comes from life itself and my Christian root helps to keep me grounded. I like to keep my songs simple with message of love, peace and comfort.
I want to keep the lyrics simple with the message of love, peace and inspire people to live their life in a different way n see the brighter side of Life.

EASTERN MIRROR: You were in a band called ‘Metanous pulse’. Do you guys still work together? Which is easier-performing as a band or solo? Why?
DAHIL PFITHU: Yes!.. I was the front man of the band “Meatanous Pulse”. We were a bunch of crazy college boys back then, ready to rule the world but now we don’t play anymore. I definitely enjoy and enjoyed playing in a band but performing as a solo artist is much easier for me.

EASTERN MIRROR: Tell us about your debut album ‘Change’ and the song ‘Give me love’.
DAHIL PFITHU: My Debut Album “Change” was released in the year 2011. It was kind of experimental for me, has a mixer of Christian contemporary, alternative, country and acoustic. I wrote the song “Give me love” during ‘Write a song contest’ organised by Nagaland State Aids Control Society (NSACS) in 2009. Luckily my song got selected and it featured in the Write a song Contest CD.

EASTERN MIRROR: Your thoughts on conveying a positive message towards the music industry of Nagaland.
DAHIL PFITHU: Yes!.. Dear Brothers and sisters, Music Industry may not be as lucrative as other avenues in Nagaland as of now, but time will come when it will be proved wrong, the revolution has already begun. Don’t stop believing in yourself and never give up. Continue doing what you love to do, keep moving and keep the passion alive.

Dahil Pfithu’s passion for music has always been in his veins, discovered his talent when he won the school solo singing competition. Since then turning back was never an option for him.
His genre is mostly influenced by Church music, western contemporary, country music, etc.
Alongside his other awards, he was a finalist at the Naga Orpheus Hunt 2007. His song ‘Give me Love’ was also selected by Nagaland State Aids Control Society (NSACS) ‘Write a Song Contest’ 2009. He also was the former frontman of ‘Metanous pulse’.
