AIDA EVENTS a collaboration of four empowered and motivated women, Livika Swu, Kali Yepthomi, Liza Ayemi and Heli Ayemi. The group have been working behind the scenes providing a platform for talented designers in order to promote and encourage skill development in the field. These ladies have been working behind the camera and on today’s Stylespot, Eastern Mirror puts the limelight on Aida Events as they talk us through their work.
EASTERN MIRROR: How did you get started and why are you passionate about what you do?
AIDA EVENTS: We formed a group known as the AIDA EVENTS last year in the month of April…..we decided to come up with some interesting event… so we got into some discussions and we happened to talk about music, fashion, entertainment etc, and so we had an idea to organize an event for the designers and give a platform to young talented designers from NAGALAND. We organized a show last year as The Aida Designer’s Hunt at Niathu Resort where designers from all over NAGALAND took part.The reason why we are passionate about what we do is we love and enjoy what we are doing at the same time we also have the zeal and passion to take our Naga designers and our culture to the next level through fashion.
EASTERN MIRROR: What objectives did you have in mind when you decided to venture into fashion? What inspired you?
AIDA EVENTS: Our objective to venture into fashion was that there aren’t enough opportunities in the field of fashion especially in our state therefore we wanted to encourage and support designs and fashion innovations encourage skill developments for workers and designers through this event.
EASTERN MIRROR: What is your favorite part about putting together a show? Will Aida Event happen again?
AIDA EVENTS: Putting up a show is not easy as it looks. Our favorite part about putting together a show is we get to learn and experience more…..and it’s even more exciting to see the amazing and wonderful designs designed by different talented designers..And yes most probably Aida will be a yearly event.
EASTERN MIRROR: Tell us a difficult situation you have faced putting up a show and how you got out of it?
AIDA EVENTS: Every event has hair raising complications that arise…but we manage the events professionally and handle them quickly, efficiently, intelligently and move on…we work in a professional way in order to avoid such situations.
EASTERN MIRROR: Tell us about your individual style statement.
AIDA EVENTS: An important aspect of individual style statement is the way you balance different elements. The beauty of an individual style is that it can develop as we grow. It is important because you can be who you want through your individual choice. You don’t have to or chose to make an impersonate to be somebody else because that wouldn’t define who you are. As John Fairchild stated, STYLE is an expression of individualism mixed with charisma. Fashion is something that comes after style.
EASTERN MIRROR: Apart from fashion, what other projects are you currently working on?
AIDA EVENTS: There are no projects up till now but hopefully if we succeed with our event we will definitely come with new projects apart from fashion.
