Imphal-bound bus catches fire near Phesama village in Nagaland

Kohima, Oct. 19 (EMN): An Imphal-bound bus caught fire near Phesama village, approximately 7 km away from the state capital Kohima, on Tuesday morning.

The officer in-charge of South Fire Station, Kohima, Inspector Sedevizo Hibo told Eastern Mirror that the bus was coming from Guwahati and the fire incident happened along the Imphal-Kohima national highway (NH).

He said that a report about the incident was received at 8:04 am, after which fire personnel and vehicles were rushed to the spot to douse the fire.

The bus was said to be ferrying 13 passengers along with other goods, mostly utensils and electronics.

The police officer said that the fire was suspected to be caused by leakage of silencer pipe of the vehicle.

No casualty or injuries were reported though the glass on the sides of the bus, seat, roof and floor were damaged by the fire, he added.

The exact value of property damaged by the fire was yet to be ascertained till the time of filing this report. Further, it was informed that fire personnel led by Commander Sevi Kera along with other subordinate officers and three fire extinguishing vehicles were pressed into action to douse the fire.
