Hornbill Festival 2025: Free blood donation camp held at Kisama

DIMAPUR — The Voluntary Blood Donors Association Nagaland, in collaboration with the Tourism department and partnered/supported by HDFC Bank, Imagi Nation, ETE Coffee, 8 & 8 Café, Imprint Press, NAC, NSACS, NSBTC, Block Centre NHAK and TA, Naga Regiment, conducted a free blood donation camp at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, December 5.


Additional Director of Tourism, T Kakihe Sumi, in his address, extended his appreciation to the Voluntary Blood Donation Association, and also conveyed his gratitude to the Territorial Army personnel and blood donors, for always coming forward during blood donations camps, a DIPR report stated.


Sumi highlighted that such noble activities and blood donations bring immense joy to those involved, particularly the donors themselves. He further thanked the association for its selfless service, compassion, and humility, acknowledging their invaluable care for the community.


Maj. Issac Maben, Company Commandant 164 TA Naga Regiment, congratulated the blood donors association for organising the camp, allowing his personnel to donate blood for a noble cause. He stated that the 164 TA Naga Regiment comprises 18 tribes, and they've faced challenges donating blood to their families and communities due to distance and difficulties.

The blood camp at Kisama Heritage Village has provided them an opportunity to contribute. Maben also requested the Volunteer Blood Donors Association Nagaland to inform his Regiment about future blood donation initiatives, expressing his unit's willingness to contribute.


Col. Manoj, Commandant 13th AR, Assam Regiment, stated that his battalion personnel are always ready to donate blood during camps, as they're committed to supporting the people of Nagaland and surrounding areas.


He emphasised that blood donation is a noble act that brings people together to serve humanity. Col. Manoj commended the team for organising the annual event and expressed his hope that it would continue to grow. He also shared plans to host similar blood donation camps at their unit location in the future.


In his keynote address, Ainato Yeptho, chairman of Voluntary Blood Donors Association Nagaland, highlighted that the association is conducting its third edition of blood donation camp at Naga Heritage Village, and this event is creating a movement for the people in need of blood.


He also noted that the associated has around 1500 registered members through its App ‘Nagaland Blood Donors’.


A total of 23 blood donors participated in the blood donation camp.
