Guv. Ganesan encourages NEISSR graduates to be compassionate
Total of 32 students from the batch of 2021-2023 graduated this year at North East Institute of Social Science and Research (NEISSR)
DIMAPUR — The North East Institute of Social Science and Research (NEISSR) held its 8th graduation day on October 13 at the Peace Centre in Chümoukedima, with Governor La. Ganesan as the chief guest.
According to a DIPR report, the guest of honour for the programme was Nosazol Charles, State Information Commissioner, and the special guest was Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima Diocese and chairman of NEISSR.
In his address, Ganesan stressed that it’s a significant milestone for the students not only in their educational journey but also in their lives, and he commended NEISSR for moulding young minds, equipping them with knowledge, fostering creativity, and helping them become responsible global citizens.
Ganesan encouraged the graduating students to be responsible, compassionate, and to make the world a better place as they embarked on a new chapter in their lives. He emphasised the critical role of social work in addressing complex societal issues, advocating for social justice, and assisting marginalised groups.
He stressed the importance of educational institutions in preparing future leaders, emphasising the importance of teaching students forward-thinking, decision-making, peace-building, and effective communication skills.
The chief guest praised NEISSR for its innovative approach to integrating youth leadership development into peace building as part of the social work programme. He also acknowledged it for promoting inter-faith culture and harmony in Dimapur.
While wishing them success in their future endeavours, Ganesan urged the graduates to contribute to the development of the state.
Nosazol Charles, the guest of honour, thanked NEISSR for providing students with a quality education and encouraged the graduates to make a positive impact on individuals and communities. He reminded them to set goals, be honest, and be kind to others.
Charles noted that the world can be unpredictable and that, in order to overcome life’s challenges, one must play their cards well.
The event included a graduation candle lighting, a NEISSR journey presentation, and a message from the chairman, among others.
A total of 32 students from the batch of 2021-2023 graduated this year.
At the event, outstanding students were also awarded, including the best student award to John Kath, the excellent academic performance award to Zhovino Kichu, the best research award to Sushoka Assumi, and the best student in field practicum award to Imkongtula.
