DIMAPUR — Governor of Nagaland La Ganesan on Monday said that the present growth curve of the country predicts exponentially increasing opportunities for those who strive towards reaching the peak.

Addressing the annual convocation of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) in Chennai, the governor said the contemporary era provides ample scope for entrepreneurship and innovation.

This is also the period when the youth can be the creator of jobs and provide employment to others, Ganesan stated.

The convocation was held for the UG, PG and doctoral programmes in Engineering, Technology, Science, Humanities, Management and Law, stated an update from PRO Raj Bhavan.

Congratulating the graduands, the governor said that convocation will forever be etched as a memorable day in a student’s life because it symbolises practical life ordeals such as the struggle for the realisation of dreams through hard work and commitment.

Ganesan also said the event signifies triumph, attainment of knowledge and satisfaction to themselves and to everyone around them.

“Graduation is a season for celebration in life as it concludes a phase of the learning curve and springs to another phase where you deploy what you have learnt.

“This new life phase teleports every student from the fun-filled campus and friendly environment to real-world of trials and tribulations,” he said.

The governor urged the graduands to keep the spirit of hard work and consistency to succeed in their lives and also learn to function as a team.

He added that a good leader is someone who was once a hardworking team player and possessed the ability to become a resourceful entrepreneur.

“In retrospect, the memory that we share of our academic days is the one we long to return to,” he added.

Encouraging the students, the governor said that they have ventured into their respective disciplines and have been adjudged to be worthy of the degrees that are being awarded to them.

Ganesan went on to say that the graduands are now prepared to face the challenges and responsibilities of the outside world.

He also exhorted that they should always remember to be an integral part of the nation-building process, through the relevant capabilities and experiences that they have acquired from the institution.

The governor further urged the graduands to always endeavour to fill their minds with constructive thoughts, follow the virtuous path and chase success.

He said even after their graduation, they should keep learning and become better versions of themselves and serve their motherland with true spirit and zeal.

On the occasion, the governor handed over the degree certificates and Chancellor, VIT, Dr. G Viswanathan distributed the medals.

The governor also inaugurated two buildings on the campus namely, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Block and Swami Vivekananda Block in the presence of Balu Chaturvedula, SVP and country head, Walmart Global Tech., and other officials. Earlier, Vice Chancellor of VIT, Rambabu Kodali, delivered the welcome address. The governor was accompanied by his secretary Rajesh Soundararajan and other Raj Bhavan, Kohima, officers, the update stated.
