KOHIMA — To promote sports and identify young football talents in the state, the Grassroots Football Festival – Blue Cubs League 2025 was held on Saturday at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS), Kohima.


The event was organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports. A total of 297 young players, both boys and girls, from various districts took part in different categories.


During the inaugural programme, Megolhu Dolie, Additional Director, Youth Resources and Sports, attended as the special guest and encouraged the players, stating that success in life is a journey, not a destination.

He said success requires a combination of hard work, discipline, perseverance, and a positive mindset. Dolie advised the children to give their best and build friendships.


Later, during the valedictory function, Kethosituo Sekhose, Director, Youth Resources and Sports, attended as the special guest and handed over prizes to the players.


The list of winners includes Liverpool as the winner and Manchester United as the runner-up for the 5–6 years category; Saramati won with Japfu as the runner-up in the 7–8 years group; Shilol took first place and Dhansari was the runner-up in the 9–10 years category; and in the 11–12 years group, Real Madrid won with God's Glory as the runner-up.
