Governor of Uttarakhand meets Naga community

UTTARAKHAND
Lt. Gen. (retired) Gurmit Singh and Naga community at the Raj Bhavan in Dehradun on Friday.

DIMAPUR — On the occasion of 61st Nagaland Statehood Day, Governor of Uttarakhand, Lt. Gen. (retired) Gurmit Singh, met the members of Naga community at the Raj Bhavan, Dehradun.

Interacting with the Naga community, the governor recounted his days in the army with Naga soldiers and expressed his profound admiration for the beauty and simplicity of the Naga culture and values. He called upon the Nagas residing in Dehradun to embrace spirit of unity and oneness with the whole country and to be good ambassadors of Naga culture and values.

Dr. Nokmatongba Jamir, ONGC deputy general manager (Geology), delivered a speech on behalf of the Naga community highlighting the uniqueness of the state, its culture and values. He thanked the Governor for the honour accorded to the members of the Naga community.

The Naga community members present included Naga students studying in Dehradun as well as elders working in Dehradun namely Dr. Nokmatongba Jamir, Dr. Koko Rose, and pastor of NCF Dehradun, TzudilongTzudir.

The student members led by Lumchungli T Sangtam and Bopeto K Shohe presented two songs before the gathering. It informed that Naga community also presented model of a Morung and Naga spear to the Governor by the community.

This stated in a press release issued by Naga community residing in Dehradun.
