Thenyizumi, Dec. 27 (EMN): The general secretary of Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, said the Gospel of Christ has brought with it the calling and challenge to expand further and not to remain still.

Keyho was addressing the Thenyizumi Baptist Church (TBC) 75th Gospel Anniversary celebration on the theme ‘Arise and Shine’ held at multipurpose building in Thenyizumi village under Phek district on December 26.

He stated that 75 years ago Thenyizumi villagers had become believers with the certainty of salvation while a new dawn had dawned in the village. The NBCC leader maintained that the occasion is a time to count blessings and asked the people to recount and retrospect, stating that everyone is gifted with manifold blessings.

He challenged the gathering to ‘arise and shine’, and not standstill but to keep going forward for the Gospel, while adding that the Gospel of Christ has brought with it the calling and challenge to reach out to more souls.

Further, he challenged the congregation to leave a footprint/ legacy by standing strong for the cause of Gospel.

On the occasion, Rev. Vevotso Theluo, chairman of Chokri Area Baptist Church Council (CABCC), shared greetings; Rev. Dr. Kowepe Kanuo, director Chakhesang Mission Society, released the souvenir; Rev. P Bonny Resu, lead pastor of Chakhesang Baptist Church (CBC) Dimapur, pronounced the blessings; and Neshotsulu Thisa, associate pastor (women) read out the scripture.

The programme was led by Thepuzhoyi Theyo, pastor of Thenyizu Baptist Church.

The anniversary choir presented ‘Hallelujah Chorus’, while songs were presented by Thenyizumi Baptist Church Parents Choir and Chetheba Town Baptist Church choir.

Earlier, a dedicatory service was held at the Church premises attended by Dr. Keveduyi Theyo, son of N Theyo, the first Christian convert from the village, while a song of dedication was presented by Sunday School choir and Rev. Khrotso Mero unveiled the monolith in presence of Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho followed with blowing of trumpet.

Society in deep slumber – Rev. Mero

Later in the evening service, Rev. Khrotso Mero, executive secretary of Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC), in his message, said the society is in deep slumber – be it spiritual, social or political.

Maintaining that Christian warfare is an internal warfare and not external warfare, Rev. Mero challenged the congregation to put on the armour of God so as to spread the good news.

He recalled the contribution of late N Theyo and said the early church had overcome all trials and tribulations and withstood the test of times. He also paid homage to the pioneers.

He stressed on the need to start a mission from home. To further spread out, he exhorted the parents to teach their children the word of God. Urging the parents to be role models in raising children in daily life, he viewed that in the present society, many parents have lesser time for their families.

He also encouraged the members in attendance to get rid of all evils, forgive one another, to humble themselves and live in the likeness of Christ.

The programme was led by C Kroso Kezo, associate pastor of Thenyizu Baptist Church and Vesakho Thisa, convenor of resolution committee-cum-director of Children and Education Department, CBCC, led the anniversary declaration.

Songs were presented by Christian Revival Church, Thenyizu; St Andrew Church, Thenyizu; Thenyizumi Christian Fellowship Kohima and Anniversary Choir.

Zapose Dawhuo, associate pastor of Chetheba Town Baptist Church, read the scripture; invocation was pronounced by Reduyi Medeo, pastor of K Bawe Baptist Church; Vejuyi Rose, pastor of Thipuzu Baptist Church, said offertory prayer; thanksgiving prayer was offered by H Praneyi Dawhuo, head deacon of TBC, and Vesupra Tetseo, pastor Chetheba Town Baptist Church, pronounced benediction.
