Dimapur, March 4 (EMN): Minister of Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along, challenged the entrepreneurs of the state to flood Delhi markets with naturally grown vegetables, fruits and other horticulture products by utilising the recently launched air cargo facilities.
Along stated this while speaking at a two-day sales day of fresh fruits and vegetables including dried vegetables and pickles on March 3 held at the lawn of Nagaland House, New Delhi. The minister was accompanied by the advisor of Technical Education and Elections Medo Yhokha, an update from Kuolie Mere, PRO (IPR) Nagaland House, New Delhi. The programme was chaired by Kethosituo Sekhose, DRC, Nagaland House.
The minister, while declaring the sales day opened in the name of the PDA government, thanked the government of India for operationalising the air cargo bay at Dimapur airport. He exuded confidence that it would go a long way in alleviating the economic needs of the state. He particularly mentioned that “Naturally Nagaland” initiatives became possible due to the leadership of the chief minister and the deputy chief minister.
The minister also appreciated the efforts put in by the Horticulture department led by the advisor Mhathung Yanthan and the team of officers and staff of the Nagaland House, New Delhi, for making this venture a success.
It stated that the first day saw a huge response from the denizens of Delhi including the people from the Northeast. It added that out of 30 varieties of items, around 20 were sold out within a few hours of the inauguration.
Due to high demand, rationing had to be carried out for more than 10 items like pineapple, pumpkins, lemongrass, squash (chow chow), passion fruit, anishi, green leaves, banana inflorescence, king chilli and bitter brinjal, the statement added.
