KOHIMA — Two commercial establishments including a restaurant and a kitchenware shop were gutted in a fire that broke out at N Kire Market, near Razhü Point in D Block area, Kohima, on Tuesday.
However, there was no report of any casualties or injuries.
Officer in-charge of South Fire Station, Sedevizo Hibo, told Eastern Mirror that they received a call at around 12:30 pm about the fire, which reportedly broke out in the restaurant due to a short circuit, after which four fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Property worth approximately INR 15 lakh of the restaurant and INR 40 lakh worth of property along with a large amount of cash from the kitchenware store were reportedly destroyed by the inferno. It was informed that the restaurant was renovated only a week ago.
Meanwhile, Theja Kire, the proprietor of N Kire Market, appreciated the efforts of fire personnel whose timely action prevented the fire from spreading further to adjoining buildings, which house various businesses.
