Fire destroys six houses in Aghunato

Dimapur, Jan. 20 (EMN): About six houses were razed to the ground and properties worth crores of rupees were destroyed in a devastating fire which broke out from a general store in Aghunato town under Zunheboto district on January 19 at around 8:20 pm.

The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. A DIPR report informed that a general store, garment shop, hostel, and a household appliances shop including two houses were destroyed in the fire.

The store from where the fire started belonged to Devander Kumar. It was estimated the goods worth INR one crore in the store were damaged in the fire. It was also reported that a hostel attached to the shop lost properties worth INR 50-60 lakh including important documents of both students and owner Nipato Yeptho.

Properties in a garment store worth INR 5 lakh, appliance store worth INR 2 lakh and three adjoining houses worth INR 5 lakh were also reported destroyed in the fire.

Meanwhile, chairman of Aghunato GBs’ Association, Vikishe Awomi, GB of Vikiye Colony Hoshito, and GB of Lukikhe village Akavi Katty, have expressed gratitude to the Fire and Emergency Services from Zunheboto for bringing the fire under control by travelling 35 km. The signatories also acknowledged the public of Aghunato town for their timely intervention to bring the fire under control.
