Fire destroys more than 20 houses in Dimapur
A massive fire broke out at Master colony in Kuda village, Dimapur, at around 6:40 pm on Saturday, destroying more than 20 houses.
Neiphretuo, Duty Commander of Central Fire Station, Dimapur, told this newspaper that more than 20 kutcha houses were reduced to ashes by the inferno, rendering more than 40 families homeless.
The officer informed that more than three gas cylinders exploded, while the fire personnel could take more than 20 gas cylinders to safety.

The duty commander said that they received a call about the fire incident at around 6:57 pm and reached the spot at around 7:08 pm, before managing to douse it within two and half hours.
As many as nine fire tenders — four from Central Fire Station with two refilled fire tenders, two from West Fire Station and one from Chumoükedima Fire Station were pressed into action to douse the inferno.
The officer said the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained but is suspected to be due toe an electrical short circuit.
However, there was no report of any casualty from the incident. The estimate of damages to property is not known till the tile of filing this report. Dimapur, Feb. 25 (EMN)
