Senapati, March 2 (EMN): Pointing out that people from the hills areas in Manipur need equal representation in the legislature and development, Nagaland's Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton on Tuesday told the electorates to vote for the BJP party.
He was speaking at the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) political awareness programme at Mini-Stadium at Senapati in Manipur.
He maintained that there is an uneven representation among the hill areas in Manipur and informed that delimitation will take place in 2026. He told the people that it is important for the people to be with the government to get their due share of representation.
Towards this, he told the electorates to vote for the candidate and the party that would form the government to deliver the aspirations of the people to get more representations.
Patton stated that Senapati, ever since the Britishers time, was connected with roads and was presently connected with the National Highway (NH). However the district is still underdeveloped, he said and told the people to vote for a leader who would be in the ruling government to develop the district.
He also shared about his political career over the last four decades and appealed to the gathering to go to their respective villages and cast their votes. He assured all possible help to the people if the Karong Assembly Constituency votes for the BJP party.
Patton, who is also the BJP Legislature Party leader in Nagaland, also condemned the statement made by NPF working president Huska Yeptho on February 16 at Senapati stating that it was an 'insult' to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ‘when the entire country and the world recognised and gave respect for his tall leadership’.
Ṃeanwhile, President of BJP Nagaland, Temjen Imna Along, who is also Nagaland's Minister of Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, stated that election happens every five years and it is the right time to choose a representative to deliver the needs of the people of the constituency and the state.
He told the electorates of Karong assembly constituency to choose their leader wisely .
'So whom do you choose to send -- somebody who is an Independent who has no head and a tail, somebody in Congress who has been in the opposition with no future leadership or to NPF who is going to join the BJP to be the second fiddle or any other parties', he said.
Towards this, he appealed to vote for R Yuh Jonathan Tao, who is a known face among the BJP.
Imna Along also claimed that the amount of development coming to Northeast India in the eight years of the Narendra Modi-led government has exceeded sixty years of Congress rule.
He further told the party workers to humble themselves to work and uplift the people of the hill areas.
Earlier, speeches were also delivered by Nagaland Advisors Kazheto Kinimi, H Haiying, and Dr. Longrineken, wherein they reiterated that the Narendra Modi-led government is bringing development to the last mile.
