Funded by ICAR educational museum at School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS), Nagaland University, Medziphema campus
DIMAPUR — The vice chancellor of Nagaland University, Prof. Jagadish K Patnaik, inaugurated the educational museum at School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS), Nagaland University, Medziphema campus, on July 21.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Prof. Patnaik, who was also the special guest, opined that the museum would not only provide knowledge on the history but also about the resources, capabilities and showcase the rich biodiversity of the state. He also requested to keep it open for the school and college students to enable them know about the indigenous knowledge of its people.
An update from SAS informed that the museum was funded by ICAR and the work was executed by M/S Jain Exposition Pvt. Ltd, New Delhi.
It added that the museum would display the agriculture scenario of the state along with the plethora of rich bio-diversity in terms of indigenous species of plants, fruits, vegetables, indigenous technical knowledge, flora and fauna, sustainable traditional farming systems and rich colours of traditional festivals and culture of Nagaland. Besides, it would also display 17 numbers of bromides and translides, galaxy of exhibits, murals and digital scrollers and kiosks within the four walls of the museum.
Prof. Akali Sema, pro vice chancellor of SAS, NU, delivered the welcome address, while a brief report about the museum was presented by Prof. L Tongpang Longkumer, convenor of museum committee. Prof. R Nakhro said the invocation prayer and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. L Daiho, dean of SAS, NU.
