KOHIMA — The directorate of School Education on Tuesday announced that the second phase SMILE App for Teacher Attendance Monitoring System (TAMS) would be rolled out on April 1.
The principal director of School education, Thavaseelan K, notified that the 2nd phase pilot of SMILE App for Teacher Attendance Monitoring System (TAMS) for all categories of employees under the department of School Education in the schools and office establishments pertaining to the districts of Dimapur (EBRC-Dimapur Urban and Kushiabill), Kohima, Phek and employees under the Directorate of School Education would be rolled out with effect from April 1.
The first phase of SMILE App for Teacher Attendance Monitoring System (TAMS) for 74 schools in two educational blocks was introduced from February to March.
The checklist of tasks to be carried out during the second pilot phase has also been listed for the employees.
During this period, the check-in time has been fixed latest by 9 am for schools and latest by 10 am for establishment and directorate of School education. The check-out time for school has been fixed latest by 1 pm and for establishment and directorate of School Education latest by 4 pm.
It stated that attendance marked any time after 9 am and 10 am would be flagged as late check in and any time before 1 pm and 4 pm be flagged as early check out. It informed that the accessibility of the App would be opened from 8 am till 5 pm considering overtime for some of the employees.
While the working day has been being fixed from Monday to Friday, it informed that in case an employee forgets to check-out after check-in, attendance would be marked as partial presence for that particular day.
Employees are instructed to update to download the latest version of SMILE App, applicable both for Android and iOS and in the event of downloading a new App, the employees are also instructed to delete the already installed APK before downloading the App.
Among other elaborate checklists for the second phase, the directorate of School Education informed the employees to contact the helpline in the support option from the SMILE App or call @6909644519.
Mentioned may be made here that during the first phase, 38 schools under L Khel Block in Kohima district and 36 schools in Pungro block under Kiphire district were selected to undergo the pilot rollout of the SMILE App during the period from February to March 2024.
TAMS was developed by the Nagaland Education Project - The Lighthouse (NECTAR), under the department of School Education and they had extensively toured all blocks and districts in the state for a physical verification and authentication exercise last year.
The system would specifically employ facial recognition technology for person identification along with location and time stamp in which is expected to eliminate proxy culture and absenteeism.
