LOSAMI — Dr. Neisatuo Mero, MLA, emphasised on Wednesday the significance of time management for a better society and highlighted the need to reduce excessive festivities, social gatherings, and other events.

Speaking during the introductory session of the 77th General Conference of the Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) at Losami village, Phek, he urged students to seize opportunities at the right time.

“Never regret in life not utilising your time properly; life is short, like a shooting star. Blink your eyes, and you don’t see it anymore,” he said, encouraging the students to utilise their time judiciously in pursuit of education. He called upon students to fully dedicate themselves to their studies and work hard for success.

Mero commented that it is now the ‘survival of the fittest’ with high levels of competition, whether in UPSC, NPSC, or NSSB, and emphasised that success comes from inner calling and hard work, not just familial advantages.

In his speech, he also lauded the state’s education policies, mentioning efforts to implement them and ensure quality teaching. He expressed satisfaction with the streamlining of non-functional schools and the maintenance of a balanced teacher distribution across different schools.

The session also had the inauguration of the CSU road by Mero, greetings from CYF president Kevesa Khamo and PSU president Rongley Leyri, and songs by Dzüve Venuh and Ralü Yhobu.

Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs, K G Kenye, is scheduled to attend the conference on Thursday. A total of 70 units registered for the three-day event that will conclude on February 2
