Kohima, May 8 (EMN):
As Covid-19 cases continue to increase in the state, the Home department on Saturday directed the deputy commissioners and district task force (DTF) chairmen of Dimapur and Kohima district, which have been declared containment zones, for stricter implementation of guidelines relating to the containment.

Principal Secretary of Home, R Ramakhrishnan in letter stated that non-essential movements of people into and from the containment zones to other districts in the state continue, which violate the government’s order issued earlier this month.

It may be recalled that the government had on May 3 declared some areas namely Dimapur Municipal Council, Chümoukedima Town Council, colonies and villages along Dimapur- Chümoukedima four-lane road, Kohima Municipal Council and New Capital Complex — as containment zones.

‘The district task force on Covid-19 are requested to check and restrict non-essential movement of people in areas declared as containment zones,’ it stated.

It however informed that the movement of inter-state transit passengers may be allowed as per provisions of the revised standard operating procedure (SOP) for returnees and travellers entering Nagaland dated April 29, 2021.

The containment zones order was issued in the wake of high Covid-19 positivity rate indicated for Dimapur and Kohima districts over the past weeks.
