Dimapur, Dec. 10 (EMN): The much anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 is finally here and the game has set a new record on Steam for the most concurrent players for a single-player game.

According to stats on Steam, Cyberpunk 2077 got more than 1 million concurrent players at the time of writing (Peak player count was 1,054,388). This makes Cyberpunk 2077 the most popular game on Steam over the last 24 hours with Valve’s own Counter-Strike: Global Offensive sitting at second place on Steam’s concurrent player count standings at the time of writing this report.

We had earlier published an article evaluating the most popular games on Steam and you can read the list of the most popular games on Steam by tapping on the link given below.

This development places Cyberpunk 2077 above previous single-player record holders, Terraria and Fallout 4. Terraria achieved a peak of 490,000 players followed by Fallout 4 at 473,000 players.

Moreover, this incredible achievement is just for the Steam platform and a combined total across other platforms like GOG, Epic, GeForce Now, Google Stadia and consoles could be even higher. In fact, CD Projekt Red has informed via a tweet on its official Twitter page that Cyberpunk 2077 officially surpassed 8 million pre-orders worldwide before its launch day. We might just witness more records being broken by Cyberpunk 2077 in the coming days.

According to the data on Steam, Cyberpunk 2077 sits on fourth place for the most-played games on Steam behind three multiplayer titles: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) and Dota 2. PUBG takes the top spot with a peak of 3,257,248 players competing for the chicken dinner on January 13, 2018.

Although Cyberpunk 2077’s launch has not been the most ideal with players experiencing bugs, frame-rate drops, glitches and whatnot, however, the game has generally been well received by critics and players alike. A Day 1 patch had earlier been released by CD Projekt Red a day before launch to iron out some issues. We can expect CD Projekt Red to release more patch updates to improve the game as days go by.
